Fail September 3, 2010 kinrossian (UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Single player irrelevant. Poor copy of CoD.
Multiplayer flawed. Weapons modelling is bizarre - you can empty your magazine in a guy who then kills you with a pistol. You shoot endless shells from your tank in a guy only to get killed by the same guy with a satchel... You can blame it on inexperience only for so long before it becomes tedious.
And no prone and no lean? Hello DICE - it is 2010!! If I wanted a console game I would have bought a console game.
After the MW2 fiasco, I wanted this to work, I was going to ignore te lack of public server files, but overall this is a great disappointment. A waste of money.
Much better games are ARMA2 and Heroes of Stalingrad.
Battle for Supremacy August 27, 2010 d4rkst4r Bad Company 2 has in many ways made PC games sit up and take note: From the first level to the last the game play is of a great standard and keeps you totally interested throughout. Even the ending which I won't spoil is fantastic.
The graphic detailing is the best yet and although my PC isn't the top spec. it played beautifully with no lag or lack of clarity.
As a counterstrike fan of many years I was completely taken aback by how good this game is online, where your skill certainly is tested. Great graphics great game great fun..Buy it you won't be disappointed
I miss the old Battlefield... August 23, 2010 chips (UK) I love the Battlefield frachise. I loved the big maps and the fact you could run and hide/be stealthy etc. But I'm old and slow and I realise that EA have to cater for the kids so they've brought out a variance on the MW2 gameplay.
It's very, very cool and unlike MW2 it's based on BF 'squad up' gameplay. But I still wish for the old
BF...
Would be brilliant if it didn't lag August 18, 2010 A. Wye (London) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've had this game since day one of its release and I have to say that it is brilliant. Except for one fact, every 10 seconds, I kid you not, it lags out for a few crucial seconds. Its definitely not my computer, I fully upgraded it just so I could play this game at full settings. It's not my internet, I've had an engineer come round and check it, it works perfectly well. Its this game. When it doesn't lag I've had some smashing moments online and awesome kill streaks. It gets extremely frustrating though when you die multiple times because the game decided to freeze up just as some guy decided to run round the corner. Ofcourse when it unfreezes it shows the events of the last few seconds in which you get to watch your own hilarious death. This makes for some extremely fun gaming sessions.
I would recommend you stay away from this product as it only causes annoyance. Alas for me I can not return it thanks to steam.
Single Player Blast! August 13, 2010 zoo keeper (Romsey) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Most of the reviews of Bad Company 2 quite rightly concentrate on the multiplayer aspects of the game. after all, it's what it's all about.
However, I thought I would say a few words on the single player experience for those players, like me, who only play single player games.
I bought BC2 at sale price. I wasn't expecting too much from it. I was expecting a single player version of multiplayer style games. Wow! I was wrong!
It's easy to describe it as a "Poor Man's Call of Duty". Indeed, much of it is very similar to "CoD Modern Warfare". The keyboard layout is very similar too. However, it would do it an injustice. It is far better than that description would suggest.
Graphically, it's excellent (but not quite as good as CoD). The battles are smaller than the biggest CoD battles. However, they are challenging (at least for me!) and exciting.
There is a huge variety of scenarios. Every avenue seems to be explored. You fight in jungles, deserts, snowy mountains, streets etc. You fight on foot. Call in air and artillery strikes. You fight in motor vehicles, boats, helicopters and tanks. Sometimes you drive. Sometimes you're the gunner. Sometimes both!
The weapons (about 30 variations of assault rifles, sub machine guns, sniper rifles, rocket launchers, shotguns and light machine guns)compare very favourably to CoD. The grenade launchers on the assault rifles are very powerful and capable of taking out lightly armoured vehicles and helicopters.
Some have criticised it for being too scripted. It's certainly very linear and the corridor is quite narrow but it certainly ensures that the action is relentless and exciting.
There are two big bonuses. One is that everything that you can see, you can use. It might be a gun but it could be a motor vehicle. If you shoot the driver, it's yours! The other is that everything that you can blow up in real life can be blown up in the game. You can blast every house to pieces and clear out the enemy. Of course, they can do the same to you!
It's much longer than I expected. It's slightly longer than a Call of Duty campaign and very replayable.
To any single players who wonder whether it's worth it, I say: "Yes!" it's a little gem, giving a CoD style experience at a third of the price.
