| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.co.uk Review Fans of Paolo Nutini’s debut album, These Streets might raise an eyebrow or two at this sophomore release. Produced by Ethan Johns (Kings Of Leon), Sunny Side Up features an eclectic and "rougher" range of songs that set it somewhat apart from its slick predecessor. Recorded in Ireland, Wales, New York, LA and the UK, Nutini--backed by his band The Vipers--tackles folk, reggae, soul and rock, with varying results. The Motown-esque "Coming Up Easy", the ballad "Worried Man" and the sea-shanty "Growing Up Beside You" are shining examples of Nutini's erudite songwriting skills, as is the charming, Dylan-esque "Tricks Of The Trade". But songs like "Pencil Full Of Lead" and "No Other Way", as well as his forays into reggae-lite and ersatz ragtime are less convincing, often sounding more like sketches than full songs. Whether Sunny Side Up is bravely eclectic or an incoherent disaster depends ultimately on the loyalty--and the patience--of the listener. --Danny McKenna

Back to his Italian Roots September 5, 2010 confusedpunter (UK) I must admit that I don't mind this but prefer his first album.
At times he sounds like he has no teeth and is about 80. Not a good role model. A bit too accordian based (I really don't like that instrument) and this makes it sound italian to me. On the other hand I bought this for my niece - who really likes it.
I knew what I was buying before I paid for it. A sound purchase.
Excellent! August 23, 2010 MummyLooby
Absolutely love this CD. Every song is great. A real feel good CD.
Well done Paolo Nutini! Keep up the good work.
'... it floats my boat!' August 5, 2010 Jane A Gough (London, England United Kingdom) The first I heard of Paolo Nutini was a brief TV appearance at a recent festival in Glasgow. So I bought this album completely on speck. What an amazing roller coaster ride this album is. It pays homage to most music traditions; from soul to blue grass to cotton jazz to 1950s rock - right back to soul, but all with its own unique twist. I was moved to jive as well as to silent contemplation.
Paolo's voice is a mixture of soulful mourning and an almost childlike joy in the world - beautiful! and what diverse lyrics: '... make myself a sail then i'll float to you my darling...' and 'I got a pencil full of lead.'
As you can tell, I loved this album and I dare anyone not to listen to a least a couple of tracks.Sunny Side Up
OK but not great August 4, 2010 Mr. R. M. Stimson (Stockport, UK) Bought this album on the back of hearing a few tracks from Paulo. A bit disappointed as it is very different from the chart stuff he has released. Its ok but not great.

Love to be able to review this cd, however it was for my wife, she loves it. And by the way at the present an ear problem renders me pretty deaf. Rubbish review, but it saves all the technical stuff we all read on albums sometimes!
