Amusing and informative January 14, 2010 G. Smith (UK) Bought this as a gift for my car mad son and flicked through it myself. Funny book but with good information in it for car nuts. A bargain at the price, it was twice as much in most retailers.
Great Top Gear Humor! January 12, 2010 J. DeFelice This is a great book if you are into Top Gear style humor. Lots of funny "ads" for each host, etc.
A must for any Top Gear fan! January 12, 2010 L. Lewis (York, North Yorks, England) For any Top Gear fan this is the perfect 'top up' to the programme. It is fun and frivolous and has many 'tongue in cheek' articles that Top Gear fans will love.
brilliant January 5, 2010 Christopher J. Mills (lowton) My girlfriend bought me this book for christmas, seeing as i love the show, and really, we both sat there reading it laughing at nearlly every page.
im 19, and i dont know much about cars, witch is what i love about top gear, because you dont need to know about cars to enjoy it, and i have learnt so much about cars without realising by watching it.
but this book is not all about cars, i see it more of the presenters showing that they can laugh at themselfs, witch is good, i dont like celebraties who cant see what is wrong with themselfs, so to make a whole book dedicated to the purpose is just wonderful
from articales like "problems of life sorted with a hammer", "the power of littaraly" and "lord mays airtravel" there is tones of random bits and bobs in here to keep you looking back at it for a while.
There is some parts about cars such as "worst cars of the year" and "car of the year"(all i will say is it isnt what you would expect)
really, i know that people of an older generation then mine will not like it as they want to see cars, but also these are the people that dont enjoy the challanges on top gear and moan that "you dont test cars properly anymore" and "when will i need to make my car into a space shuttle?"
but anybody of my age, younger and older, who appreciate a good laugh should pick up this fine book as you will not be dissapointed
and to those haters of fun, stop watching top gear and watch the failure that is fifth gear instead
Tedious and childish a disappointment in comparison to the TV show. January 4, 2010 A. Kirk (UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The TV show is rightly successful - 3 grown men messing around with cars, it is funny, to the point and well made.
This book though is a disappoinment - I concede that it is well made, but otherwise, really not worth buying.
Where the TV show appeals equally to children and adults, the book will really only satisfy the youngest age group.
It takes concepts from the show and stretches them as far as they will go, and then a little further.
You might dip into the book for a few moments, but you will put it down soon after.
