1 out of 5 stars HERO & ANDROID   March 1, 2010

Although this phone is OK and fairly well featured, without Voice activated dialling via bluetooth, particularly in a car it is near on useless.
This is such a serious omission in the Android OS it is nearly unbelievable.
Also if you are a Microsoft Office user or Syc with Outlook it is also poor.
Whilst no one O/S is perfect having had a Windows Mobile Smartphone before I wish I had not upgraded as I have definitely downgraded here, even though its a fine phone with a Camera and good music player that connects with great with my Bluetooth stereo headphones. Has great web browsing and PDF viewer, but i cant get away from the fact that Android and voice activated dialling does not sucessfully exist, so in 2010 this makes this very poor as a phone.
I cannot afford to revert to what i had before so I am now stuffed, don't let it happen to you! One poor feature spoils the whole phone and any other Android phone. I cannot believe this is so under reported but just Google the problem an you will find out!

3 out of 5 stars 4 stars for Android, 2 for the handset.   February 21, 2010

As I say in the title: 4 stars for Android but only two for the handset itself, so three stars overall. It could easily be one for the handset on reflection as I write this. A ROM upgrade is rumoured to be on offer as of March 2010, just weeks away, but even if they fix all the little bugs that creep into every day use I'd still recommend you try another Android phone first, unless of course you can pick this thing up cheap as an old obsolete model (which it's already becoming) then maybe give it a go.

First, my major grip with this phone is: The internet struggles (to put it kindly) with one of the UKs major network providers. Google for the name of it, it's out there. From what I've read this seems to be a manufacturer's fault rather than an Android fault. A quick check by putting in another network's sim card reveals an amazing improvement in performance. The work around for the bad network is also 'out there' on the net and is easy to do (with the aid of any of a number of a free apps) and improves things a lot, but for the cost of this sort of high end gadget I expect the thing to work. Even with the 'fix' it's still a little painful at times. This of course, is NOT a good thing for a 'net phone but then to my knowledge it's only one network effected.

And I expect the software provided - in this case the sync with PC one - to work seamlessly as well. Guess what, on Windows 7 = fail, at least with the version out Dec 09. A quick web search revealed an easy enough fix, nothing more than copying driver's into a folder location. Sloppy but not the end of the world, but there's a sloppy aspect to the whole handset and package that just keeps creeping in during every day use that just sticks in the throat when the price tag flashes back into mind. I won't go into all the details here but none even close to terminal, just irritating at times.

Android great OS though, with just enough more freedom than the Apple offering to make the battle worthwhile, and yes, flash does work on it, just fine, when the net does anyway. But you will need a free task bar manager to keep the thing running smoothly as the processor is frankly not quiet up to the job otherwise. Bit like the handset in general really.

4 out of 5 stars simple and functional   February 20, 2010

up sides to this device are :
NAVIGATION...simple to use, pick up in a day or two,
DESIGN...may look slightly odd but works well when your using with just the one hand,
TOUCHSCREEN...responsive touchscreen makes typing so swift, once you get going texts take a matter of seconds. makes games and applications that bit better.
ANDROID RELIABILITY...hasnt froze or done anything silly the whole time ive had it, even when you are going in and out of applications at a fast rate.
VISUALS...visuals look great, screen gives videos and pictures justice, -get file converters to watch films and tv shows.
APPLICATIONS...android offers a ton of great applications that will make your phone that much better, 3g watchdog is a good one.
CHARGE TIME...charges up in about two hours which i thought was pretty handy.
RIGTONES AND SOUNDS...some great sounds with the phone, clear and noticeable ring and message tones make it easy to pick out.

down sides to this device are :
CAMERA...not amazing pictures and videos, -there is NO FLASH either,
MICRO SD CARD...not big enough for all the hero uses, not fast enough either, -buy a class 6 micro sd card to speed things up!
DOESNT SUPPORT ALL FLASH...you cant just watch any old video online or experience some sites such as beatport etc...
BATTERY..even though the battery charges quite fast, it drains fast also. -just watch out when watching videos or sufing the net.

overall a solid, tidy phone with a lot to offer. would reccomend it to anyone. just see for yourself, have a bash on it in a phone shop before buying.Android Application Development: Programming with the Google SDK

Well I'm a man of few words only to say this phone is amazing!!!!.
Does everything you need as far as I'm concerned and if you need a camera buy one and stop complaining it, it's a phone for gods sake.

5 out of 5 stars Great!!   February 16, 2010
A. Khairuddin
Have been using the phone for few weeks now and so far I'm very satisfied and happy with the phone.
Pros:
- Long battery life (more than 3days with normal use)
- thin
- the screen was big and joy to play with
- had all the features that smartphone need to have- gps, wifi etc.
- Easyto download applications from android market

Cons:
-sometimes lag, but not really a problem for me
-the QWERTY keyboard kind of small, very hard to use for those with large fingers (but you can download a better keyboard type from android market or just use phone type keyboard)

I highly recommend this phone!!
