2 out of 5 stars Won't stay off.   June 15, 2008

I wanted this phone to use just occasionally, so most of the time I leave it off. But there is a problem with this phone. It won't stay off. It so easily gets turned on by the key being pressed in my bag/pocket and then when I want to turn it on the battery is flat and it's used up all its options for the password and I have to ring and get the PUK code.

5 out of 5 stars Very good basic phone   November 28, 2007

All I wanted was a simple and cheap mobile phone that had a texting facility and a contacts list and that's what I got . There are no bells and whistles with this phone except for a couple of games but it's very light and very easy to use although most operations require a couple more button presses than a more expensive phones with sophisticated interfaces. Although the phone is light it does seem pretty robust and at this price it is almost disposable.

The 1600 isn't small or slim but fits in a trouser pocket easily enough and in operation the clarity on the phone is pretty good albeit a bit harsh and the battery life is exceptional. The only small gripe is the very limited number of supplied ring tones, but I'm sure you can download whatever you want. Don't forget that any 'hands free' solution has to be wire based as there is no Bluetooth facility.

I bought the Vodafone pay and talk package and the transfer from my O2 contract was efficient.

So if you want a cheap phone that does the basics then I recommend this package, however it may be worth looking around as you may find a better deal.

5 out of 5 stars A Good Product   August 8, 2007

Having broken the case on my previous Nokia, it still worked but it was hard to see the screen, I saw the 1600 on sale for £20, so made an impulsive purchase! Simple to use, long battery life, clear calls & sturdily built are its main qualities & with it being inexpensive its a worry free ownership.

4 out of 5 stars Fantastic 'phone for the price.   June 2, 2007

This is GREAT! It's JUST a 'phone (which is exactly what I wanted); the battery lasts for AGES; it's just the right size (although the keypad MIGHT be a little small for anyone who doesn't see too well, but it's not tiny).
The only reason this loses one star is that the 'Free Weekends Calls Offer' is a bit pants for someone who makes as few calls as I do, since you've got to spend a certain amount (I think it's £5, from memory) during the week to qualify. This hardly matters, and I have no regrets (in life, as in 'phone purchases).

Very easy to use, just right for me to send text messages and phone nothing fancy like camera, bluetooth etc Just a nice looking phone even a mobile phone beginner like me can use it.
